Addo Elephant National Park

one of South Africa’s most celebrated wildlife reserves, located in the Eastern Cape near the city of Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth). Established in 1931 to protect the last remaining elephants in the region, the park has grown into the third-largest national park in South Africa, covering a variety of ecosystems that include dense bush, open plains, mountains, and even a coastal marine area. It is famously home to over 600 elephants, along with lions, buffaloes, leopards, rhinos, zebras, warthogs, and a rich diversity of birdlife. Addo is also the only park in the world where visitors can see the “Big Seven” — elephant, rhino, lion, buffalo, leopard, great white shark, and southern right whale — thanks to its expansion to include marine reserves along the coast. Offering self-drive routes, guided safaris, horseback trails, and comfortable lodges and camps, Addo Elephant National Park delivers an unforgettable safari experience and stands as a symbol of successful wildlife conservation in South Africa.
