Gonarezhou National Park – Zimbabwe’s Wild Frontier

Remote, Rugged, and Remarkably Untouched

Tucked into Zimbabwe’s southeastern corner, bordering Mozambique and South Africa, Gonarezhou National Park is one of Africa’s last great wilderness areas. Meaning “Place of Elephants” in Shona, Gonarezhou is vast, raw, and untamed — ideal for adventurous travelers seeking solitude and true immersion in nature.

With its dramatic Chilojo Cliffs, baobab-studded valleys, and rich biodiversity, Gonarezhou is a haven for elephants, lions, leopards, wild dogs, and over 400 bird species. It’s part of the Greater Limpopo Transfrontier Conservation Area, linking Kruger (South Africa) and Limpopo (Mozambique) in a cross-border eco-system.

At Safaris With A Heart, we value Gonarezhou for its authenticity and ecological importance. We support community-run conservancies and low-impact camps that invest in education, conservation, and rural livelihoods.
