Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Moshi

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, transfer to your hotel in Moshi for briefing, gear check, and overnight stay.

Accommodation Hotel in Moshi.
Day 2 Londorossi Gate (2,250m) → Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,650m)

Drive 3–4 hrs to Londorossi Gate, complete permits, and trek through lush rainforest. Spot colobus monkeys and exotic birds before reaching camp. Acclimatization hike in afternoon.
• Trekking time: 3–5 hrs + 1 hr acclimatization hike
• Distance: 6 km
Overnight:Mti Mkubwa Camp

Day 3 Mti Mkubwa (2,650m) → Shira 1 Camp (3,610m)

Climb steadily into the moorland zone. For the first time, enjoy views of Shira Plateau and Kibo Peak.
• Trekking time: 5–6 hrs
• Distance: 5 km
Overnight: Shira 1 Camp

Day 4 Shira 1 (3,610m) → Shira 2 Camp (3,850m)

Scenic trek across open plains. Optional hike to Cathedral Peak (3,872m) for one of Kilimanjaro’s most rewarding viewpoints. In the afternoon, short acclimatization hike towards Lava Tower.
• Trekking time: 3–4 hrs + 1–2 hrs hike
• Distance: 7 km
Overnight: Shira 2 Camp

Day 5 Shira 2 (3,850m) → Lava Tower (4,600m) → Barranco Camp (3,900m)

Key acclimatization day: ascend to Lava Tower (4,600m) for lunch, then descend into Barranco Valley, home to giant Dendrosenecio plants.

• Distance: 12 km
Overnight: Barranco Camp

Day 6 Barranco Camp (3,900m) → Karanga Camp (3,995m)

Climb the dramatic but manageable Barranco Wall, followed by rolling ascents and descents. Afternoon acclimatization hike towards Barafu Camp.
• Trekking time: 4–5 hrs + 1–2 hrs hike

Overnight: Karanga Camp

Day 7 Karanga (3,995m) → Barafu Camp (4,673m)

Final push before summit. Short, steady climb to Barafu, the launch point for summit night. Rest, eat, and sleep early.

• Distance: 6 km
Overnight:Barafu Camp

Day 8 Summit Day: Barafu (4,673m) → Uhuru Peak (5,895m) → Millennium Camp (3,820m)

Depart around midnight for the summit push under the stars. Reach Uhuru Peak, the Roof of Africa, at sunrise. Descend to Barafu for rest, then continue to Millennium Camp.

• Distance: 15 km
Overnight: Millennium Camp

Day 9 Millennium Camp (3,820m) → Mweka Gate (1,640m)

Final descent through lush forest. Receive your summit certificate and celebrate with the crew before returning to your hotel.
• Trekking time: 4–5 hrs
• Distance: 12 km
Overnight: Hotel in Moshi/Arusha

Day 10 Departure

Relax at the hotel, enjoy the pool and gardens before transfer to the airport. Late check-out available on request.
