Itinerary

Day 1 Machame Gate – Machame Camp

Drive to Machame Gate (1,800m) for registration. Begin your trek through the lush rainforest, where you might spot monkeys and exotic birds. Arrive at Machame Camp (3,000m) for dinner and overnight.

Day 2 Machame Camp – Shira Camp

Leave the forest behind and ascend into the moorland zone. Enjoy sweeping views of Shira Plateau and Mount Meru in the distance. Overnight at Shira Camp (3,840m).

Day 3 Shira Camp – Lava Tower – Barranco Camp

Climb up to Lava Tower (4,630m) for acclimatization, then descend to Barranco Camp (3,960m). The day follows the “climb high, sleep low” strategy for better adjustment.

Day 4 Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp

A key acclimatization day: ascend to Lava Tower (4,600m) before descending to Barranco Camp. This “climb high, sleep low” strategy prepares your body for the summit.
• Trekking time: 6–8 hours
• DistanTackle the Barranco Wall, a thrilling but non-technical climb offering some of the most beautiful views on the mountain. Continue to Karanga Camp (3,995m).

Day 5 Karanga Camp – Barafu Camp

A short but steep hike to Barafu Camp (4,673m), your base for the summit attempt. Rest early and prepare for a midnight start.

Day 6 Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak – Mweka Camp

Begin the summit push around midnight. Ascend through the dark to Stella Point (5,739m), then continue to Uhuru Peak (5,895m). Celebrate your incredible achievement before descending to Mweka Camp (3,100m).

Day 7 Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate – Moshi

Descend through the rainforest to Mweka Gate (1,640m). Receive your summit certificates and transfer back to Moshi for a well-deserved rest.
