Discover the magic of Tanzania on this 16-day immersive journey that blends epic wildlife safaris, community outreach, and personal adventure. “Heart of Tanzania: Safari, Service & Summit” offers a deeper kind of travel—one that takes you from the thundering migration in the Serengeti borderlands to the peaceful shores of Lake Manyara, into the heart of Outreach Africa’s charity work, and up the towering slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro—or out to the serene beaches of Zanzibar.
This itinerary is perfect for adventurers who want more than sightseeing. You’ll meet inspiring locals, walk alongside Maasai warriors, marvel at lions in the Ngorongoro Crater, and choose your own path in Week Two: either summit Africa’s tallest mountain, serve near Lake Victoria, or unwind on the spice island of Zanzibar.
From the moment you arrive in Arusha to your final evening in Moshi, every detail is crafted for purpose, wonder, and connection.

TOUR ITINERARY
Activity: International Air Travel to Tanzania
Overnight: In-flight
Activity: Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport. Meet your guides and transfer to your lodge in Arusha.
Overnight: Planet Lodge, Arusha (Tropical Experience)
Activity: Visit Safaris With A Heart and Outreach Africa charity projects, or a curated visit to group-specific outreach projects.
Overnight: Planet Lodge, Arusha
Activity: Depart for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area near the Serengeti border. Begin your safari experience, witnessing wildebeest, zebra, and antelope migrations.
Overnight: Ndutu Safari Lodge, Lake Ndutu (Outback Experience)
Activity: Early morning game drive through the heart of the migration. Spot lions and cheetahs. After lunch, continue to your next safari lodge.
Overnight: Bougainvillea Safari Lodge (Tropical Experience)
Activity: Sunrise departure. Descend into the 2,000 ft. crater for a day of wildlife viewing. Enjoy lunch by a scenic hippo pool, then head to Lake Manyara.
Overnight: Maramboi Tented Safari Lodge (Raised Platform, Lake View)
Activity: Optional walking safari to Lake Manyara for flamingo viewing. Game drive in Tarangire National Park with lunch in the park. Return to Arusha.
Overnight: Planet Lodge, Arusha
Activity: Visit the Tanzanite Gem Museum, shop for gifts. Travel to Moshi and enjoy lunch at Union Café. Light walking tour of Moshi town.
Overnight: Park View Inn, Moshi (Walking Distance to City Center)
Option A: Trek Mount Kilimanjaro
Activity: Begin a guided trek up the highest mountain in Africa via your selected route (Machame, Marangu, or Rongai).
Overnight: On the mountain (varies per route)
Option B: Zanzibar Island Retreat
Activity: Fly to Zanzibar. Explore white sand beaches, swim with dolphins, visit Stone Town, and tour Jozani Forest to see Red Colobus monkeys.
Overnight: Ocean Blue Hotel, Zanzibar
Option C: Lake Victoria Service & Safari
Activity: Fly to Bukoba to participate in Outreach Africa’s Lake Victoria projects. Take a side trip to Rubondo Island National Park for a boat safari.
Overnight: Local accommodations, Bukoba area
Activity: Return from your chosen experience (Kilimanjaro descent, Zanzibar, or Bukoba). Rest and reflect on your journey.
Overnight: Park View Inn, Moshi
Activity: Enjoy a relaxing pool or shopping day in Moshi. Prepare for departure. Transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport in the evening.
